Group Programmes

The Toolkit Programmes we choose to offer are all based on a psycho-educational model using a trauma informed approach which teaches women the skills to be able to manage their own behaviours, their lives and move on from experiences of abuse, regardless of when the abuse occurred.

Our programmes are forward focused and do not to re-traumatise participants. We provide a safe, confidential environment for women to talk freely, as a result all our programmes are highly effective with significant results.

Our programmes are relatively small, managed groups and we have found them instrumental in allowing women to make positive friendship groups who go on to support each other long after the programme has finished.

Sexual Violence Recovery Toolkit *

This is a 12 week programme for women who have experienced acquaintance, dating or stranger rape or sexual violence. It is an evidence based programme that supports women to be the expert and at the centre of their own recovery. It does not involve any disclosure work and therefore does not lead to re-traumatisation of participants.

The aim of the programme is to help individuals who have experienced sexual violence and who are in a position to take part in a group to come to terms with their experiences and to develop positive lifestyle and coping strategies.

The programme supports participants to better understand their experience, based on the theory that with increased knowledge the better equipped participants are to deal with the impact of it and therefore their own recovery and well-being.

Areas covered:

  •  Sexual Violence myths

  • Self-esteem – what is it?

  • Post traumatic stress

ACE’s - Adverse Childhood Experiences Recovery Toolkit *

The Adult Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Recovery Toolkit is a 10 week group programme for women who have experienced and are still living with the effect of ACEs.

“A bad childhood doesn’t have to define you as an adult”

The Adult ACEs Recovery Toolkit uses a trauma informed psycho educational model believing that by giving individuals knowledge we enable them to better understand and deal with their previous experiences.

This toolkit has been written to educate and inform people about the impact of ACEs on them and their children. The programme provides guidance on the protective factors that help reduce the impact of ACEs and practical methods for parents developing their resilience they need for themselves and their children. Participants will not be re-traumatised by attending, as it’s a group designed to encourage a change in thoughts and behaviours for a better future.
